Clearly Oscar Mayer had a sense of humour that day. He very much does not look like Orlando Bloom.

Scott Allen Smith was arrested as part of the January 2006 sting in Riverside County, California. He was one of many people that weekend who got to meet both Chris Hansen and fine members of the Riverside County police force.

Unsurprisingly, it took a long time for this case to finally come to its conclusion. The number of continuances over the years were only noteworthy for the fact that Smith seemed to never be present for any of the hearings. In the spring of 2009, the trial finally began, and the jury found him guilty of charges of attempted lewd act with a child under the age of 14 and attempted lewd or lascivious act with a child age 14 or 15. He appealed that conviction, but the jury's decision was affirmed by the higher court.

He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, and he had to register as a sex offender.

The contributor for this chat was Oscar Mayer.

This is our 531st conviction since June of 2004 and our 31st conviction for 2010.
