That kind of persistence deserves more than the usual Long Beach special.

Robert Salinas arrived at our Long Beach, California TCAP sting operation and got to meet Chris Hansen. After that, he got to meet some handcuffs. Later on, he got to meet a judge. Unfortunately, the last of the three he got to meet seemed to be the most pleasant for Salinas.

Had he been arrested in Georgia, he would have gotten five years in jail. Had he been arrested in Oklahoma, he would have gotten three or four years prison time. Had he been arrested in Riverside, California, he likely would have gotten one to two years in prison. But unfortunately, he's in Long Beach which means he gets three years probation, some time cleaning up California highways and lifetime registration as a sex offender. Well, at least the last part is quite positive.

Hopefully Salinas will use this leniency to get mental health, rather than some of his other cohorts who already seem to be back on the prowl.

    Contributor notes from Malibu Breeze
Robert Salinas first hit my decoy when I was working the Petaluma, CA sting, so we chatted for quite some time before he showed to the Long Beach, CA bust house.

Despite having children of his own, including a teenage daughter, Robert (also called Rudy) had no problem picking up on what he thought was a 13 year old girl.

Robert received what we call the Long Beach special which includes probation and registration as a sex offender.

This is our 248th conviction since June of 2004 and our 127th conviction for 2007 so far.
