This case has been a long time in the making and has made quite a lot of news. Kenneth Crowder has been sentenced to a year in jail on child pornography charges and he is awaiting sentencing on related solicitation charges stemming from his attempt to solicit an underage male, a decoy played by Jay Alternative of the website.

Crowder received charges in two areas for his internet-related crimes. He was especially dangerous since his profession was that of a coach in a local Academy in Virginia. Pedophiles often will take jobs that have access to children, giving them more opportunities to look for areas to take advantage. So far no victims of Crowder have come forward, so hopefully he was stopped in his tracks prior to being able to act upon his desires.

Media related to the arrest and prosecutions of Crowder:
Coach faces Internet sex charge - December 30th, 2004
Nansemond-Suffolk coach pleads guilty in Internet sex sting - March 29th, 2005
Ex-coach gets 1 year for possession of child porn - December 21st, 2005

Notes from the Contributor, Jay Alternative
Some things in life are worth the wait. On going for a year, Ken Crowder finally is where he belongs, jail. The path does not stop in Suffolk for old Ken. Upon finishing his time in Suffolk, we will be serving more time in Virginia Beach. Length to be a nice chunk of time determined at his upcoming sentencing.

Special thanks to all at PJ who helped out on this one, the Suffolk, VA PD, and Detective Kisch with the VA Beach PD.

Crowder is serving a minimum of one year. He pled guilty to five counts of child pornography. Each count carried a year in jail. The judge suspended twenty four years of the sentence, sentencing him to one year in prison. If he violates any terms of his probation, he will be looking at serving the rest of those suspended years. Crowder additionally is still awaiting sentencing on the solicitation charges that he has already pled guilty to.

This marks our second conviction for 2006 thus far, Jay Alternative's fifth conviction overall and our third conviction in the state of Virginia. This is our forty-second conviction overall since June of 2004. We're very pleased at the work of the authorities we contacted in this case, very glad to have dealt with pro-active law enforcement in Virginia.
