Selwyn Knights hit up my 14 year old persona in a Yahoo New Jersey chat room. For over a month he chatted both from his place of employment as a supervisor of communications and from his home, persistently trying to persuade who he thought was a 14 year old child to meet him. He asked over and over again when they could meet and when she would be home alone. He also clearly believed he was talking to a minor, as he mentioned frequently that she was under 18 and that he could get in trouble and go to jail.

His knowledge that he could get in trouble did not dissuade him, because as he also repeatedly said in various ways "I guess because I am attracted to younger" and "I just like younger women". Her innocence and purity were what interested him, as he also repeatedly said things like "YOu are pure and I love that". He told who he thought was a child that he loved her, complimented her, and said he wanted to buy her things, including telling her to go to a web site and pick out an ipod he wanted to get for her. He worked very hard to convince this child that he cared about her and wanted her to himself.

When my minor persona finally gave in to his requests to meet, he got a little lost in the neighborhood, ran into some police, and went back home. I did not think he would come back again after that scare, but he decided to randomly show up unannounced, and was arrested by the good officers of the Ocean County New Jersey police department. This sting was covered by Dateline, but he missed his chance to meet Chris Hansen. The important thing is that he did not meet a real child as he intended.

Aloe Vera, the phone verifier on this case, did her usual quality work, and has my sincere thanks and respect for her dedication. Many thanks are deserved as well by the Ocean County police department for doing an outstanding job and for their dedication to protecting children from on-line predators. For his crimes, Selwyn Knights was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury and subsequently sentenced to lifetime parole and must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.
