Sometimes it's difficult when we are contacted by asshats for whom English is a second language. We need to make sure they understand that the decoy child is underage, and we need to make sure his intents are very clear despite the language barrier. Victor Manuel Alas made that all very easy. He struggled with English, but his knowledge that sex with a minor is bad came across very clearly, as did his intentions for when he met the retired Contributor Heath Bar's 14-year-old decoy.

Alas showed up to meet what he thought was a child, but instead met officers from the Meriden, CT Police Department. Alas was taken into custody and charged with attempt to commit risk of injury to a child, attempt to commit sexual assault 2nd degree, and attempt to commit enticing a minor by computer - all felonies. Alas managed to drag his case on for over a year and a half, but finally saw the light and reached a plea agreement.

Alas pleaded guilty to attempt to commit enticing a minor by computer, a felony. He was sentenced to five years in jail, execution suspended aftere 150 days. He was also sentenced to ten years of probation and registration as a sex offender and all that entails.
