Thanks for the education, Mr. Predator!

Scott Spears thought he was free to use the internet to harass children with pornography and sexual solicitations, but he found out he was quite wrong. You don't have to show up at a bust house to be charged for solicitation in Michigan, which is a wonderful thing because plenty of damage can be done to a child long before the predator shows up to meet them.

    Contributor notes from Marge Arita

Scott Spears was another perv I met during the build up for our March 2008 sting in Michigan. He was slower to send porn than some of the other pervs I met in Michigan. He talked for a couple hours before sending a pornographic photo he said was of his penis. Sending that photo was enough for Spears to be arrested.

Spears accepted a plea bargain and was charged with one count Internet - Communicating to commit Accosting and Soliciting a Minor for Immoral purposes. As a part of the plea bargain he received 6 months in the county jail and 5 years probation.

Special thanks to the Kalamazoo County law enforcement agencies involved and to the Michigan Attorney General's office for their dedication to making Michigan a safer place for kids.

This is our 328th conviction since June of 2004, our 25th conviction for 2009, and our 16th conviction in Michigan thus far.
