Yeah, wouldn't it be so awful for you if a minor girl betrayed your trust. I mean, you were only trying to rape her!

Kazuo Akutsu was arrested as part of the Ocean County, NJ sting in March of 2007. Akutsu ended up facing some of the harshest sentencing in the New Jersey sting, at least for someone who wasn't already a RSO. He spent much time in jail awaiting a resolution to his case, and he faces deportation from this country, meaning possible separation from his family. He received a sentence of three years in prison, with credit for time served (and he was later released early after serving an additional 5 or 6 months), a lifetime of supervision if he isn't deported, and registration as a sex offender.

    Contributor notes from Sunny D
Kazuo Akutsu, infamous for his fainting spell on Dateline, was the first to plead guilty and was sentenced on February 1, 2008 to 3 years. The sentence was a \"Megan's Law\" sentence which included parole supervision for life and possible deportation. With a credit at sentencing of 308 days, Kaz was released from prison on August 29, 2008.

Here is his chat. Throughout, his grooming of the girl he thought was 14 was slow and methodical. Numerous times during the chat he raised the possibility of this being a sting, though that did not deter him. At first, I thought he was a Dateline fan. But, eventually he mentions a friend of his who had served on a jury for an internet predator case, leaving no doubt that he was fully aware of the illegality of his actions.

This is our 470th conviction since June of 2004, our 165th conviction for 2009, and our 24th conviction in New Jersey thus far.
